Mar 03, 2020 This page explains how to generate public/private key pairs using OpenSSL command-line tools. Device authentication. Cloud IoT Core uses public key (or asymmetric) authentication: The device uses a private key to sign a JSON Web Token (JWT). The token is passed to Cloud IoT Core as proof of the device's identity. Oct 23, 2008 Hi all, The other day a colleague of mine asked me if I had a.NET version of the C sample in How to generate key pairs, encrypt and decrypt data with CryptoAPI post. C sample calls CryptoAPI directly (and you know we can do the same thing in.NET through P/Invoke), but the idea was to use System.Security classes in order to get a pure.NET solution. In case you want to look into generating an asymmetric key pair from a password, here is one example scheme which also includes some discussion about its use (full disclosure: I am involved in defining the associated standard). Using such 'decentral identities' offer a lot of opportunities. Generate an RSA public / private key pair. Iterate PBKDF2 N times to create a symmetric key based on the user's password and salt. Use a symmetric encryption algorithm to encrypt the private key. Upload the unencrypted public key and encrypted private key to the server.
